Jarrod Douglas is our Member, Master Certified Technician, and Certified RV Inspector.

Jarrod grew up in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, where his parents introduced him to RVing and working with his hands at an early age.

His father was known for repairing and repainting vehicles in his home shop during the evenings. He also had a talent for finding great deals—often bringing home projects that most people would have overlooked.

One of those projects was a nearly new 32-foot travel trailer that had experienced a fire. The refrigerator had caught fire, smoking the interior and damaging a portion of the structure. The trailer required replacement of the refrigerator, metal siding on one side, insulation, and some wiring.

This was one of the first major projects where Jarrod was able to lend a hand. His family repaired the trailer and enjoyed it for several years before eventually trading it.

That early experience helped plant the seed for Jarrod's lifelong interest in RVs, repairs, and problem-solving.

From Camping With Family to RV Service

Years later, after several years of marriage to Amy—whom Jarrod took to his senior prom—the couple decided to introduce their two children, Ashlynn and Amberlynn, to camping.

They were hooked from the beginning.

Their first camping trip was to Hillman's Ferry in Land Between the Lakes, using borrowed equipment, including a tent, dining canopy, and items from the family storage.

After returning home, the family began acquiring their own camping equipment and upgrading accessories in preparation for their next adventure.

Like many camping families, they eventually began considering an RV upgrade.

Jarrod already had plenty of RV experience from growing up with his family, but Amy got to experience the progression firsthand:

Tent → Pop-Up Camper → Travel Trailer

The family went through these stages remarkably quickly, progressing through several upgrades and repairs during June, July, and August of the same year.

Eventually, they found a gently used 32-foot bunkhouse travel trailer. This RV became the family's home base for their adventures for several years. Then they upgraded again to a 5th wheel Toy Hauler. They still own this RV along with a Class B Camper Van.

Learning the RV Lifestyle

Along the way, Jarrod's natural DIY mindset led him to learn a tremendous amount about RVs.

He worked on his family's RVs, helped friends and relatives with their RVs, and frequently assisted people who were beginning the process of shopping for an RV.

He was often the guy at the campground carrying tools—and sometimes a few spare parts—just in case someone needed help.

It was a continuation of something he had learned from his father: if someone needs help, you help them.

Over the years, Jarrod has assisted fellow RVers with everything from stabilizer jack and tongue jack replacements to vent cover installations, toilet valves, electrical and power issues, and numerous other RV repairs and troubleshooting situations.

Business & Professional Experience

Jarrod spent more than 10 years as a state government employee before leaving state employment in 2004 to enter the business world.

He has been a licensed insurance agent for approximately 20 years and has owned his own agency as well as worked with other agencies. His insurance experience has included a specialization in commercial agriculture, and at one point he held insurance licenses in four different states.

Amy is a retired state employee.

Since 2015, Jarrod and Amy have also operated a commercial property business together in Muhlenberg County.

The family is active in church and their community. Both Jarrod and Amy are involved in community activities, and Jarrod has also served as a city councilman.

The Beginning of RV Inspection Guy

After years of friends and family seeking Jarrod's advice about RV purchases, repairs, and problems, Amy suggested that he consider turning that knowledge and experience into another business.

Around that time, Jarrod discovered the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) and began researching the professional RV training programs available.

After careful consideration, he decided to enter the Certified RV Inspector program.

Jarrod traveled solo to Texas to complete his fundamentals training. What he found was much more than simply an opportunity to learn about RVs. He discovered an outstanding group of instructors, owners, and administrators who helped further his education and passion for the RV industry.

His first week of training included a fundamentals course that also resulted in a Registered RV Technician Certification.

A few months later, he returned to Texas to complete the Certified RV Inspector course and earn his NRVIA Certified RV Inspector certification.

In July 2022, Jarrod completed additional training and passed the Certified RV Technician examination.

His education continued with advanced training in RV solar installations and RV generators.

Continuing Education

RV technology is constantly changing, so Jarrod believes that education should never stop.

Since his initial certifications, he has continued his RV education, completing several hundred additional hours of RV training.

He has studied on two separate occasions at the Lippert Technical Institute in Mishawaka, Indiana, just outside Elkhart—the heart of the RV manufacturing industry.

He has also completed hands-on training with Victron Energy in Atlanta.

In 2024, Jarrod attended additional Victron Energy training with Off Grid Solutions in Custer, South Dakota, as well as training with Airxcel on their Aqua-Hot hydronic heating systems in Denver, Colorado.

Additional Victron training was completed in October 2024 with the Inverter Service Center in Tennessee.

In February 2026, Jarrod traveled to Elkhart, Indiana, to study at the RV Technical Institute, where he achieved RVTI Level 1 Certification.

In July 2026, Jarrod reached another significant milestone by becoming an RVTAA Master Certified RV Technician.

Training and certificates

  • NRVTA / RVTAA master certifiedIssued by RVTAAStated
  • RVTI certifiedIssued by RVTIStated

Seen means somebody at Yellow Pages RV looked at the certificate and it appeared genuine. Stated means the business says they hold it and we have not seen it. Neither is a guarantee of the work, and plenty of good technicians hold no certificates at all.
